Primary Responsibilities

As the leader for the PowerNet Global NOC Operation; the NOC Manager is ultimately responsible for the business results of the NOC and ensuring that all parameters of customers’ MSA/SLA s are met. It will be this person that creates the vision and direction for the NOC Operation and drives the strategic and tactical activities to provide ongoing improvements; deliberately aimed at ensuring the NOC remains world class and most efficient. The NOC Manager is responsible for liaising directly with the customer for top level reporting of results obtained by the NOC in accordance with the SLA. The NOC Manager coordinates and prioritizes NOC program and improvement activity

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure standard operating procedures are maintained and executed.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the NOC environment and recommend enhancements for implementation
  • Develop mentoring and career plan for each staff member
  • Provide procedural training to staff
  • Ensure the continuous availability of all data and voice network services
  • Provide regular status reports and project information to the Management team including regular trends and statistics of the network and overall health and metrics of the customers network
  • Act as a member of the Network Services team
  • Perform performance objectives and performance reviews with all team members quarterly
  • Ability to select, interview, and present final candidate(s) to the management team
  • Ability to adhere and enforce configuration management, Change Management and Call-out
  • Participate in regular management and conceptual planning meetings with other senior staff
  • Responsible for collaborating with Planning and Engineering teams to establish operational procedures to support all product offerings, and meet SLA guidelines and stakeholder expectations. Participate in evaluating new potential technologies and products
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Operations team to ensure efficient customer turn-up and configuration, optimal network performance, vendor management, and superior Customer Service.
  • Manage the Operations team to assure 24x7x365 coverage of the Operations Center with properly trained and effective support personnel, including 2nd level expert support for all approved PNG products. Assess capabilities and resources to recommend training and software to promote excellence
  • Serve as senior manager from an HR perspective for hiring, scheduling, time reporting for both teams.

  • Requirements

  • Education: Technical or College Degree in Information Technology, Management or related field, Master’s preferred, and/or advanced networking certifications.
  • Experience: Extensive experience required in service provider networks at a senior level, with experience managing teams and with responsibility for completing complex deployment projects within budget and on specific timelines. Experience designing and/or troubleshooting network problems and providing superior customer service. Experience with popular computer and server OS platforms. Experience working with NMS and reporting software for network monitoring
  • Specific Knowledge: Detailed understanding of IP addressing, IP routing protocols, Internet technologies and standards, Internet security issues, Internet Peering, Telco circuit technologies, Central Office or equivalent communications engineering standards, Web and network access technologies, Radius and AAA functionalities, and Computer office software suites
